The first Nepalese child Alain helped in 2005, was 7 years old Sanish b.1998, a little boy of very loving family living on a small farm near Panauti, a rural part of Nepal, a two hour motorbike ride from Kathmandu. Alain had known the family for several years when Sanish was suddenly diagnosed with a life threatening heart condition. In a country without Free Health Service, the cash poor parents were told of the cost for the operation and it sounded to them like a death sentence. Even the sale of their modest holding including the buffalo would not have raised sufficient funds and would have seen the whole family in the streets. Alain sponsored the emergency heart operation and after several months of true worry whilst he was recovering, he enrolled him into one of the best boarding schools in Nepal. Although he cannot take part in playing football due to his heart history, Sanish is an ardent supporter of Manchester United.
Sanish and in particular his parents, consider Alain as his God Father, a role Alain was happy to take on. Sanish was 17 in 2016 and has done very well with his studies so far. We recently admitted him into a private college and we will make sure that his studies are secured up to University, if this is what he chooses to do. He is a very bright student with very high grades especially in Science and Mathematics and he speaks very good English.
